The Steamer SCHARHÖRN has been built by the Yard Janssen & Schmilinsky. Up to begining of WW I the steamer has been taken for representive use. After the war the vessel has been layd up until 1925. In this year the vessel came back in service for the maritime administration. During the thirties the steamer has been modernized. At the end of WW II SCHARHÖRN served in the Baltic Sea and brings refugee to the western part of Germany. The vessel served then for the maritime administrateion until 1971. The steamer should be used as a museum. But the vessel has been sold to an owner in Edinborogh. In wasted condition the SCHARHÖRN return to Hamburg and has been rebuilt to the same condition as built 1908. Now the steamer is a museum and is still steaming on the river Elbe. | |
